First match of the hosts of the Olympic games: Chinese team. Bulgarian team played on their proper level. Vladimir Nikolov scored 22 points, Kaziyski 18 points. Best scorer of that match was Zhi Yuan with 24 points. Setter of Bulgarian national team, Andrey Zhekov said: "I'm glad that we won the first match. We suffered a lot of pressure because we are new here. We are glad to participate in the Olympic Games and we did a lot of preparation before the Games. We played consistently and managed to do with all kinds of situation and won the match in the end. I hope we can perform better in the next match."
