Berlin Volleys introduce new head coach

Roberto Serniotti is the new coach of the Berlin Volleys. At a press conference held at the Park Inn Hotel wednesday morning the 53 year old Italian was presented to the numerous journalists present.

Serniotti has been working for several European top clubs as head- and assistant coach before. The last team he coached was the Italian top team Diatec Trentino in the 2013/2014 Season, where he also met his new club in the League Round of the CEV Champions League.  After a 3:1 home win and a 3:0 loss in the Max-Schmeling Halle in Berlin, Serniotti moved to the playoff 12 as group winner followed by the BR Volleys. They started the playoffs with a win against Maaseik (BEL) but were defeated by the later champion Belgorod (RUS) in the next round. Serniotti and his team were already eliminated in the national championships quarterfinal after losing against Casa Modena.

He gained his biggest success in 2005, when he won the CEV Champions League with the French club Tours VB. Serniotti repeated that triumph in Europe’s premier competition in 2011, as assistant coach with Diatec Trentino. The native of Turin gained further international experience while working for the top clubs Roma Volley(ITA), Brebanca Cuneo(ITA), Panathinaikos Athens(GRE) and Yaroslavich Yaroslavl(RUS).
