Four Cougars Named to All-MAC Men's Volleyball Team

Four members of the Misericordia University men's volleyball team have been named to the All-MAC team, including first-team selection Jared Piontkowski.

Anthony DePalma and Gannon DeFrain were named to the second team while Zane Martin earned honorable mention at middle hitter.

The Cougars finished 23-11 while setting a school record for wins in a season while advancing to the MAC championship game for the first time in school history.

Piontkowski was selected at right side after leading the MAC with 4.65 kills per set.  He was third in the league with .49 aces per set and eighth in hitting percentage at .324.

He had double-digit kills in 23 of 30 matches, including a season-high 32 in a win over nationally-ranked Juniata, and set a new single-season record with 440 kills.

DePalma was named at outside hitter after finishing seventh in the league with 3.10 kills per set.  He was 10th in the league with .34 aces per set.  He recorded double-digit kills in 14 matches, including a season-high 22 at MIT.  He became the first player in school history to reach 1,000 career kills.

DeFrain was named second team at setter after going over the 1,000-assists mark for the season.  He was second in the league with 9.7 assists per set and set a school record with 1,044 assists.  He was third on the team with 126 digs.

Martin earned honorable mention at middle hitter after finishing second in the league with a .399 hitting percentage.
