That worked. Have at it

@VănTàiNguyễn  hmm …  me neither.  it's usually the other way around. Staffs are auto-populated but you can add and remove players per tournament.

Now that I think about it, it should be that we can't add/remove players to the Club teams. They are populated from their team pages. Let me try changing the tournament to NT and see if we can add players to NNT teams

@VănTàiNguyễn It appears to be working now for adding matches !!!

weird, I can't comment here now . Okay now I can. The 2nd set of teams is gone. Try adding Viet 1 members now

@VănTàiNguyễn  oh wait … Now there is two sets of 6 teams on the Teams page . I've never seen that happen before LOL

@VănTàiNguyễn  didn't you just add the roster for Vietnam VC?

There was a user here who brought this up months ago with lots of detail and reasoning . Nothing has happened. I'm adding the info as a timeline entry to each of them that are wrong, FWIW

I believe the Admin is working on a career opportunity and may be too removed from the site to fix these issues. As you say (I'm paraphrasing :) ) this is going to make the garbage pile so big we won't be able to clean it up

@Justice

U16 Age Group il y a 9 mois +1

We're doomed. This site is dying. How sad

It's ridiculous there is no way to have proper U16 or U21 teams or tournaments. U21 is a FIVB tournament

U16 Age Group il y a 9 mois 0

@LuisAbelardo  that'a U20

@Justice as a comparison of the way wikipedia, AVC, and volleybox keep track of things in different ways, for example, the U18 Asian Championship.  You can see by the banner for that tournament that AVC considers it the 14th edition, wikipedia sort of does too…. because it used to be U17 until FIVB created new age categories. That didn't work for volleybox so it's the FIRST U18 here. (personally, I think this volleybox way is wrong but volleybox can't have an age restricted tournament that changes ages over time, or something like that, so I was way overruled lol)

Anyway, either way is fine for this tournament that about a dozen people will ever visit. I'd like to make it a new separate tournament so it can connect to the FIVB Challenger Cup, more than anything because for us Asian volleyball fans that is a super BIG deal ?

If you browse around the AVC site, the organization responsible for all this, they make it a habit of numbering all the tournaments. The 2022 version was the 3rd “AVC Women's Challenge Cup”. The 2023 version is NOT bannered as the 4th edition and is the “AVC Challenge Cup for Women” … it's subtle but telling difference

You are not alone in being a little lost re: Asian competitions. Like you, I read that wikipedia page and thought it was true …. but it is not the best for our purposes here at volleybox

The difference in the names of the tournaments I pointed out above are important

See:  https://mb.com.ph/2022/08/21/avc-cup-to-stake-fivb-points-starting-next-year/

So, I originally added this “AVC Challenge Cup” as the 2023 version of the AVC Cup.  But then talking with some friends in PHI and Malaysia they convinced me that their language is “right” but misleading:

"the AVC Cup for Women will now be held annually starting next year where precious points will be up for grabs.

The tournament, previously held every two years, will serve as qualification for teams that aspire to join the Challenger Cup."

They could have said the “Asian Women's Challenge Cup” (what we have here) will now be annual etc., but this Challenge Cup is a low level tournament that qualified teams for The AVC Cup

When I added it as the next version of the AVC Cup I couldn't connect it to the FIVB Challenger Cup. I asked for user @avid's help and he suggested we might need to make it a NEW tournament. So he quickly added the new tournament and connected it to the FIVB Tournament to see if it would work. And it did. I am responsible for that decision. @avid was just being helpful and quick

Also teams that are in VNL (like China, Japan, Korea, Thailand) cannot play in this tournament--so it would not be correct to make it the 2023 version of the AVC Cup

Bottom line: WE should consider this a NEW tournament, Wikipedia page is misleading. The AVC Cup and consequently this tournament are end-of-lifed

To put it another way: for our purposes here at volleybox this should be a separate tournament because even if you can connect this 2023 edition (4th edition perspective) that would also make it that the 2022 and previous editions would have been qualifiers for the FIVB challenger Cup – which is patently not true. They were qulifiers for the AVC Cup

@avid a lot of Japanese players aren't wearing kneepads this year ?

Semifinals Problem il y a 1 an +2

If it is the case that a second SF match is the same teams and within 24 hrs, you get that error. A workaround is to change the date of the first SF match to a day earlier, then add the second SF match, then go back and set the first one to it's correct date

as far as I can tell you have to “retire” the player,  which will allow you to add their staff position and then “un-retire” the player and readjust their playing situation

Foreigner Quota il y a 1 an 0

@Hidesada re: your list up top … Japan might more accurately be “1 (+1 ASEAN player)” because the +1 can't be from China or Korea …
[edit] oops, I guess the men's is different, as explained by @Happy

Why is this in #AyakaKanemoto ‘s Timeline? And #ManamiMandai ? Now that I look around, it’s everywhere, polluting everyone's timeline. Someone pays the admin here for it?

@Jake  looks like it's working now? you have  a new name ?

cookies or ad blockers? you have to open yourself up to everything here

@avid I can't remember for sure, but I think 2 or 3 years ago we had the same issue with the players. We couldn't change them. Now we can

I may be wrong about that but if a solution was made for players, maybe we can do the same for staffs

I do understand why it is the way it is, tho, and how it can get gamed if we allow for changes

@ApaChozah I've heard rumors about that, but haven't seen  a source yet. If she had renewed her contract with PFU she would be on this page. I very much want to see her on that page

She's on PFU's page  now . I think we got her !
