Egypt upset Tunisia in a North African derby

Sousse, Tunisia, September 23, 2013- Defending champions Egypt secured a valuable victory against host Tunisia 3-1 (22-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20) in the second day of the 2013 Men's African Nations championship held in Sousse, Tunisia on Monday.

 

 Egypt improved their win- loss ratio to 2-0 with 6 points to lead the 6 nation round robin tournament, while Tunisia dropped to 1-1 with 3 points.

 

 Cameroon fought for more than two hours to overcome the resistant Algerian team in grueling tiebreaker 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 18-25, 25-23, 15-12). After Cameroon won the first set, the Algerian team took the control as they won the second and Third sets to lead 2-1 and were near a 3-1 victory before they committed a lot of mistakes as Cameroon came back with the fourth set win. Cameroon were highly motivated to win the tiebreak 15-12 and the match 3-2. Cameroon improved their win- loss ratio to 1-1 with 2 points, while Algeria dropped to 0-2 with 2 points also.

 

  Morocco struggled back to overcome the fighting Libyan team 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-23, 25-16) in a thrilling encounter. Morocco started the match highly concentrating to win the first set before Libya played their best in the second set to draw 1-1. Morocco regained their rhythm to win 2 successive sets and clinch the victory 3-1. Morocco improved their win- loss ratio to 2-0 with 5 points, while Libya dropped to 0-2 with 1 point.
