Mazur is great volleyball specialist but I dont like he as commentator. My favorite pair is Drzyzga-Swedrowski. Drzyzga has a strange accent but he does not talk nonsense while Swendrowski well tells what happens on the court.

Swedrowski is so poor commentator, the same with Drzyzga. I can't stand them together. @Zyta, I would add that famous story about Grozer's father. You know: "Grozer's father used to be an awesome attacker, one of the most promising but unfortunately he had an explosive temperament." It's always the same when Grozer plays really good, HE MUST TELL THAT STORY...

I noticed Mazur is trying to imitate Kostyra (boxing commentator in Polsat) modifying his voice, what sounds annoying. Besides he tends to negate almost all the things his mates are trying to say, doesn't matter if they're right or not. If you look at technical hints and genral volleyball philosphy Drzyzga wins, but of course he's biased in some aspects. Of course it's a matter of taste. I like Dębowski, he's such an incopetent commentator, talking some random shit but I find it funny, as he's not pretending to be a doctor of volleyball like Mazur. I remeber once Wlazły scored a point against Serbia in Beijing he screamed "Wlazły GOOOOOAAAALLLL!!!".

Lol Zyta... Mazur does exactly the same oO To be honest my favourite is Krzysztof Wanio. What he's saying actually makes a lot of sence and when he's joking I don't feel like "oh my god...". You know... that strange feeling when YOU feel embarrassed when someone else makes fool of himself. When Wanio jokes at the very least I would just smile for a while. I can't stand Mazur - it all depends on your taste

Henrique point is we have so many commentators and all of them has some stupid things. Except Mazur, he is intelligent and funny I loves his comments. And he is the only one who help those annoying guy be not so annoying. even Mr Whadelse sound better when they are both together. But for you most known is Swedrowski (ViZotto and KubiakAAAA), he has some standard sentences during some actions (list made by my two friends): 1. player makes a tip over the block, opponent dig it: "This tip was too high!" 2. player makes error on serve when team leads high, for example 16:11: "he could let this happen" 3. team checks action with system challenge: "I would like to rmeind that challenge is independent from our (Polsat) cameras" 4. Jarosz scores point: "Jaroooooosz!" 5. Kubiak doesn't score the point: "But this player is very brave, real fighter, we all remember his dig from World Cup" 6. player makes error on serve after technical time out/time out: "this is always error after time out" 7. Kurek makes error on serve: "Kurek is getting closer to have ace serve" 8. Nowakowski hit over the block "his spike reach is unattainable to any middle in the world!" (Musersky laughs)

Yup, that guy. Carlao played left side, middle and opposite during his career – universal player. In Barcelona the coach created that scheme where in one rotation Carlao (MB that year) moved to left side, Marcelo Negrao (opposite) played middle, and Tande (left side) was opposite, switching positions temporarily – remember that? Negrao, at 19, finished the Olympics as best scorer, best blocker and MVP.

Girls, that Sergio Mauricio guy is the narrator (maybe Rachel likes him). To compensate that lunatic we have always a good commentator – Marco Freitas (former coach) and Carlao (former player) alternate and save the day.

hahah Henrique...well, in Italy we've got Alessandro Antinelli who created some special definitions or idioms for our guys: for example Zaytsev is "il Russo de Roma" (the Russian boy from Rome) and always Zaytsev that, when serving, "throws boilers or washers" to say that his service is very strong and powerful LOL The only difference with the one that you mentioned is that Alessandro is an excellent volleyball commentator...or at least i like his style ;)

Thanks for reminding me of Marco Antonio, he was the best volleyball commentator to me. Too bad the new brazilian generation don't know what we're talking about.

Champion and Zyta, I think every country has at least one narrator that everyone loves to hate. When we had the volleyball boom in Brazil, the commentator for those matches was Luciano do Valle (fans nicknamed him “Luciano do Volei”), a cool guy.

Later we had Marco Antonio as the main one, but unfortunately he died of a heart attack a few years ago. He created so many fun expressions and was so charismatic that players and fans loved him.

After Marco Antonio, the main narrator was Luiz Carlos Jr, a guy with a broad understanding of vball, but he was transferred out of the blue to other sports and now we have to tolerate the unbearable Sergio Mauricio, “Mr. Spectacular”. Life can be tough…

Everything Sergio Mauricio sees is “spectacular”. And the stupid expressions he uses… Gosh! Theo was born in Brasilia, so the narrator calls him “the boy from Brasilia”, over and over, don’t ask me why. Whenever he sees Giba he makes some remark about his famous moustache, even when Giba doesn’t have one. Gimme some patience… However, for me, the worst is about Volkov. The Russian middle player has that dragon tattooed on his arm, which reminds annoying Sergio Mauricio of an old song from the 70s called “Menino do Rio” (the boy from Rio), by Caetano Veloso, where at some point the composer describes a surfer with a dragon tattoo on his arm.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm6nrbB_tyA&feature=related) So, stupid Sergio Mauricio decided to call Volkov “the boy from Moscow”. I can’t see any connection between Rio and Moscow, and this nickname that retard created is really annoying. When Russia plays and Sergio Mauricio is the narrator, I pray for Alekno to floor Apalikov and Muserskiy, but nooooo… He has to put Volkov and I have to listen to that stupid narrator calling the MB “the boy from Moscow” and explaining for the 167th time that’s because of the dragon tattoo. Vball fans suffer sometimes…

As I'm reading this I'm going tо "eat my thumbs" (for nonbulgarians our lovely commentator is saying after evey bad attack for example Kaziyski "Oh, kaziyski is going to eat his thumbs"..) :D

@Zyta - as to Drzyzga as commentator, his defenZywa (defence, it's said with "s", not "z") makes me furious every time I hear it (and he uses it a lot). He generally loves to make "z" out of "s" wherever he can :)

You guys have probably seen that famous shirt: “It’s Austria, no kangaroos”. Yeah, lots of people get confused with Austria and Australia. Champion, believe it or not, a friend in Canada, also a vball fan, asked me if Bulgaria had ever won the South American championship. I’m such a mean guy that instead of explaining to him where Bulgaria is, I just said: “Nah, we beat them all the time. They never reached the final, as Argentina also always defeats them”.

Zyta: Ivan was born and grew up in Italy. His parents are russian but he's italian ;) His girlfriend was also born in Italy, her mother is irish and her father is italian. But, yes, they're a "couple" :) i can send you pics of them if you want :D
