Mauricio Borges in World League 2017

In 2005, his talent drew the attention of Minas TênisClube (MG). In 2006, won the U19 South American Championship, placed in Argentina. With the junior national team, in 2008, he won a silver medal in the South American Championship and leaded the team through the title campaign of the World Championship in the next season – he was chosen the best player in the competition. Mauricio also took part on the campaign of the ninth title of the World League in 2010. In 2011, the wing spiker was Pan American champion. In the current year, he went back to Minas TênisClube and will defend the Vivo/Minas in the 13/14 season. He was present in the second place campaign in the World League and won the titles of the Pan American Cup, the South American Championship and the Grand Champions Cup, all of them in 2013. In 2014, he played the first games of FIVB World League and suffered an injury in his ankle not being able to play the final phase. He also was part of the team silver medalist in the FIVB World Championship in Poland. In 2016, he was in the team that ended with the silver medal in the FIVB World League and the gold in the Rio Olympic Games.
