Top Volleyball Prospects in the World

FiveOneVolleyball 2020-11-04 • 2984 weergaven • 12

In other sports, the faces of the next generation of stars are widely known and their potential endlessly debated. In volleyball, the next generation is unknown until they are already stars. In this video, I try and predict the next crop of volleyball elite, with players from Europe, Asia, and both America making the list. Hey I think you tag the wrong Gabi Barcia Fernandez because the tag is tag to a woman's profile and not the man's profile.

I completely agree with your call that Adis Lagumdžija is top prospect so far, he looks extremly well on the court, nice technique, super high reach, absolute beast. It will be very interesting to see, how will his game evolve, will he become a superstar, able to win the titles.

Great video, high quality! It's not a very common theme to talk about volleyball prodigies, so big kudos to you. :)
I have a comment tho. You were talking about Rinaldi as top Italian prospect, but here I think Michieletto (2001) has bigger potential. He is very tall, skillful and he has been playing official matches for Trentino at the beginning of the season, while Rinaldi didn't play a single official match for Modena(to my knowledge). Another Italian I would choose over Rinaldi is Daniele Lavia (1999), who has had a very good season, alst year in Ravenna, he has been very prolific attacker, but he transfered to Modena this season, where he will not be playing a lot (Petrić, Karlitzek). However when Vettori was injured it was Lavia who was playing and not Rinaldi, so therefore I think Lavia is better then Rinaldi, too.

@jais I've been following Trentino closely and Alessandro Michieletto is very impressive for his age. For me he's the best of all young guns cited in the video. Very good video of course !

The second for me would be Marlon Yant, he really doesn't look like a 2001, he's beast physically. Last year he played in France and he was the best player and leader of a team which played the first roles (Chaumont). This year he rarely plays but when he does, he's very good. I remember one match when he came in in the last set and was 5/5 in attack + 1 ace. Very impressive.

@Sherlock yes, Yant is absolutely fantastic, I'm so sad he transfered to Lube, where he will not play alot. I still think this was a bad decision, I think it would be way better for him to play in a club like Ravenna, Cisterna etc. Experience is the best teacher. Though he most certainly will evolve well in Lube too. I suppose they want him to replace Juantorena when the time will come…?
I would put my money on Možič too, being the youngest (2002) in the video, he still has a lot to show. Next year he will go to play abroad, probably German league, where he wants to be a starter, and then we will see how good he really is. But in my opinion he is one of the top 3 prospects in the world right now. He is a born winner. Don't sleep on him :)

@jais And yet Yant was supposed to play in Lube since last year but instead they choosed to loan him to Chaumont where he developped a lot. What a good idea.

Oh yes ! How did I forgot Rok Mozic ? At 17 being selected in this strong Slovenia team, what a performance. If he really goes to German league I would really enjoy to watch him play with Berlin Recycling, I'm sure he can do something pretty good there.

This is my top 3 : Michieletto - Yant - Mozic.

@Sherlock I didn't know about that, very right thing to do by Lube, to loan Yant. Hope he develops well, when he is gonna become a starter he will be absolute killer.
Yep, he was talking with Friedrichshafen for season 2020/21, but he decided to stay in Slovenia. Maybe they will continue the conversation next year. He only has to play games in strong tournament and thus he will develop his game.

I agree with you, sir! :)

@jais It would be a good choice also. I usually don't watch Friedrichshafen's matches but if he's part of the team next year, I'll do for sure.

This dicussion hyped me a lot about our young volleyball guns, and I hope volleyball can quickly be back at a normal time..

@Sherlock ? I hope we will be able to return to the stands to watch live volleyball again. But volleyball has a bright future, a lot of superstars incoming.

@Sherlock I have just watched Belogorie's match and I have to say I am very impressed by Pavel Tetyukhin. That young man is already very developed as a player, he is very constant, and he resembles his father so much. Very skilled in reception, he has got so many options in attack and he is very good on the serve. He is not that physical, more skilled type of player, very technical. Exciting player to watch, and it looks like he will take the footsteps of his father. I would put him on the top 5, for sure.

@jais I have to admit that I never watched him play. I'll try to follow some matches of Belogorie to discover him. I love players with the profile that you describe. The players who have many other options to score the point than hitting very strong, they are so smart. Thank you for the informations.
