Pirates vs Braves 3-0. Women volleyball 13.09.2018

The first-ranked Park University women's volleyball team swept its 10th team this season after taking on Ottawa University in a non-conference match at Breckon Sports Center Thursday night. The Pirates beat the Braves 3-0 ( 25-19, 25-17, 25-22.)

Park jumped right out in front of the first set going on a 5-0 run before Ottawa called a timeout. Later in the set, Nada Meawad won a long rally for the Pirates to lead 14-10. Park's offense was able to keep its foot on the gas as they took set one 25-19. The Pirates hit for .250, while the Braves hit for 0.98 in the set.
Pirates were able to keep at least a two-point lead over the Braves through the first 15 points of the set. When Park had reached to 10 points, Maren Roper was part of three back-to-back-to-back block points to put the Pirates up 12-7. After the back-to-back-to-back blocks, the Pirates went on a 5-3 spurt to lead the Braves 17-10. The Pirates hit for .370 which was the highest hitting percentage on the night.

Ottawa started the third set strong going on a 3-0 run early to try and take control of the set. Roper put down a side out kill to put the Pirates up 5-4. Through the majority of the set, it was a back and fourth set between the two teams. Nada Meawad as able to put down a strong kill to put the Pirates ahead 16-14. The Braves kept the pace with the Pirates, but Nada Meawad was able to put down the match point with a kill. Park won the final set 25-22.

Nada Meawad led the way for the Pirates' offense with 12 kills out of 36 attempts ,she had 11 Digs and 2 Block Assists on the Match . While her teammate and sister, Noura Meawad, put down 10 strong kills out of 27 attempts, she also had 8 Digs and 4 Block Assists .
