Poland organized European Championships for the first time in the history. Poland was among favorites to win EuroVolley 2013. Most of Polish players said clearly before Champs: "we want medal". Poland played weakly in World League 2013 taking only 4th place in their group. In EuroVolley they presented similar shape like in World League. Andrea Anastasi (coach of Polish NT) made a controversial decisions before that tournament: he didn't allowed famous Mariusz Wlazły to return the team and fired the best Polish libero: Krzysztof Ignaczak and solid Zbigniew Bartman. In result Zatorski played as first libero and Jarosz started as first opposite hitter. Poland was knocked out from the tournament after play-out match against Bulgaria (in fact against Tsvetan Sokolov). "It was a great game for all of us and played at a very high level", said Camillo Placi. "If you look at the score, you see that the difference was really small but on the other hand it makes a huge difference if you are the winner or the loser in the end. I have to congratulate Poland on their excellent performance and to thank the fans. Starting from tonight our minds are set on the next clash with Germany".
