Mir Saeid Marouf Lakrani (Persian: میر سعید معروف لكرانی‎, born 20 October 1985 in Urmia) is an Iranian volleyball player who plays as a setter for Zenit Kazan in the Russian Volleyball Super League, in addition to the Iranian national team which he captains. He was named Best Setter at the 2014 World League and MVP at the 2013 Asian Championship. After years of speculation regarding his presence at a European club, on 27 December 2014 Marouf signed a one-year contract with Russian Super League champions Zenit Kazan with an option for a one-year extension. The contract is worth over $1 million dollars, making Marouf one of the world's highest paid volleyball players. On 25 January 2015, Marouf made his debut in the Russian Super League for Zenit Kazan in a 3:0 straight sets win over Dynamo Krasnodar.

If you want to enjoy Marouf's magic work just watch Iran VS USA match in WC 2014 5th set final points. The game which was so critical and considered as a ticket to the next round. Iran has just been lost 3 of 4 friendly matches against USA in their soil so it was obvious that keeping self confidence and concentration in final points was not the job everyone can handle easily. It may also better help you choose the best setter of the world not only in setting but also in scoring!

well,i was wondering for a while and i thought who is better marouf or de cecco?

@xandreopoulos: I think maroof is better because he has more experience

@Wilfredo_is_Marshall: well i am not sure if Marouf is more experienced because its the first year that he is playing in Europe

@xandreopoulos: is a subjective opinion, for me Marouf is better. We know more amazing setters so its hard to say thats one is the best.

@xandreopoulos: It's better to stop arguing and just enjoying the play from both setters. Marouf was always great but nobody got a chance to enjoy his play as Iran was unknown to the world until recent years. Now all can add watching his play to their FUN!!
