Huge transfer, Tine Urnaut back from China to Milano!

The reason is quite bizzare. He was negative on all the coronavirus test, but the blood analysis showed that he has the antibodies for corona. This is the reason that he wouldn't be able to get the working visa. Both sides (the club and Urnaut) mutually agreed on breaking the contract.

It's interesting that Milano has acquired Urnaut, because they already have players of high quality (Ishikawa, Maar even Bašić). But probably they will try to tactically fill in the gap due to Patry's injury.

@jais I really don't think his coming is related to Patry's injury, because they already have another very good opposite, Luan Weber. But obviously Urnaut is a superb transfer for them and he will be their number one outsider hitter. That's a shame for me because Basic will have almost no chance to play, but well, that's how it works.

@Sherlock well but obviously they have problems with Weber. I mean against Perugia it was first Maar and then Ishikawa on the opposite. And that's why I thought maybe Urnaut will be an outside so that Maar can move to the opposite. I don't know maybe I misjudged, maybe Weber is good enough.

Yes, I agree with you, I loved how Basic developed, he really upped his form and is a very good player. There will be a great rivalry on the outside hitter position from now on. 4 very good players.

@Sherlock Anyway, there is some time before Urnaut will be able to return to the highest level. Firstly, he had a 14 day quarantaine and didn't touch the ball a lot. Secondly, he wasn't playing pro club volleyball since Modena in 2019. His last official match was with Slovenia NT in January, that's almost a year ago. That's why I am a bit cautious when talking about his form. Really interested to see how will he perform. And when he will return to his highest level.

@jais I didn't watch a lot of Milan's matches but Luan Weber impressed me last year in Sada Cruzeiro where he pushed Evandro on the bench ! I though he would be a good competition for Jean but it seems that there is no match. Let's see how it works though.
Yes I think Maar or Basic as the opposite would be a great idea if Weber is not good enough. Obviously Ishikawa and later Urnaut are too precious in reception to make them play as opposite spikers.

@Sherlock Yes, Maar looks like he has a physicality needed for being the opposite. You're right about the reception though.

According to a local newspaper Alen Šket is training with Maribor team in Slovenia. He is about to find a new club (in few days) and will pack his bags very soon.

The author also stated that there is a possibility of him staying in Slovenia - to play for club in Maribor (together with Možič, Ikhbayri and Kisiliuk), but I don't think that's possible, he will find another option, probably. Though I have to say I would be very pleased to see him strengthen Maribor - with him, Možič and Ahmed they would almost be very dangerous in the fight for the title.

I'm sure Patry will become good enough this year to overcome Boyer in France squat from now

That's sad. It's just this season though and he sure will get a lot of money in Qatar… Next year he will find a club in the highest level again for sure.

What was the exact reason for breaking up the contract?

SherlockFR 351 9
+2

@jais Officially it's because of “bad performances", but that's false he was the best scorer at almost every match. But everyone knows that it's because of financial reasons.

Marcello Zucchi 1

@Sherlock the president of Verona stated that he repeatedly violated the club policy regarding coronavirus prevention, resulting in a forced isolation that prevented him from playing against Milano. He was officially warned many times before the final decision was taken, although I agree with you that money was also a factor.

SherlockFR 351 9

Stephen Boyer is not a Verona player anymore. He is about to find a new club. However, I hope Verona will find a new opposite because Boyer was the spearhead of their attack, Kimerov is not at all at the level of the Italian Serie A. They had difficulties with Boyer, I wonder how they will do without him.

jaisSI 76 4
+3

@Sherlock What a news! :o Looks like he is a difficult person to manage, due to history of his conflicts (Ngapeth and France NT, now Verona…).

I wonder where they will acquire new opposite, maybe chinese league when they finish..? Till then they could play Kaziyski on the opposite and Jaeschke & Asparuh on the outside hitter. What other possibilities do they have?

SherlockFR 351 9
+3

@jais Actually he got a new agent last week, and the week after his contract is broken with Verona. There's an obvious correlation between those two events. I heard that he'll easily find a new club, let's hope it's true.

That's what I thought, but it means that they have to go without Kaziyski's reception ? Bad idea. I would go with Asparuhov as an opposite. Jaeschke and Kaziyski are for me superior in reception. But maybe they'll find a new opposite after all.

jaisSI 76 4
+3

@Sherlock Well obviously it won't be hard for a prolific scorer like him to find a new club.

But Kaziyski is still superior in the attack than Jaeschke and Asparuh.. They could keep him on the outside and just make a combination that he will attack from zone 1 when he is in the back row. But I don't think there's anything to be worried about, it's Radostin Stoytchev as a coach, he will have things sorted out.

SherlockFR 351 9
+3

@jais Yes, I'm really reassured for them because their coach is Radostin Stoytchev. I'm waiting for sunday to see what they're gonna do. Maybe they're gonna play with Kimerov after all.

@Sherlock

Opostos soltos no mercado, tem Amor Ghafour (Ira), Miguel Sanchez (Cub), Konstantin Bakun (UCR-RUS).

Ou poderia tentar buscar o Pereyra, Gasparini dos seus atuais clubes.

SherlockFR 351 9

+1

@MatheusAndrade Sorry, I don't speak portuguese 🤔 but I suppose those are the free opposites (what about the last two in your message, I don't understood ?). But do you think they can afford buying a new “world-class” opposite after firing one of the best in the world for financial reasons ? They are less prolific than Boyer, so probably a little cheaper but I don't think it's in their intentions to buy a new player.

jaisSI 76 4
+2

@MatheusAndrade There are rumours about Ghafour but also about Arpad Baroti and some danish youngster.

You mentioned Gasparini..he has a good contract in Calcit, in Slovenia and he moved back home with his family, so I doubt he would accept the offer. Besides, he is aging and soon won't be on the level for the starting opposite in Italian superlega anymore.

Kovacevic breathed a sigh of relief: I am going to China by the end of November

Although the news arrived in mid-September that the Volleyball Federation of China, on the alleged recommendation of the Government of this country, banned foreign volleyball players from playing in their clubs, the situation has changed in the meantime

Namely, "foreigners" will still have the opportunity to play in the strongest clubs, in the most populous country in the world. This was confirmed to us today by Uros Kovacevic, still officially the best volleyball player in Europe, who will wear the Beijing jersey next season.

Information has arrived that I should be in Beijing by November 30. Now, whether I will leave earlier depends on the agreement with the club. There was a story that a new championship should start in January, but at this moment I really don't know the details. The most important thing is that they allowed us to come to their clubs at all ", says Kovacevic for SK.

Why do you think it would be a transfer and not an immediate help to the club where he started his career. @SlobodanNiketić I heard that Kovacevic joined Kraljevo, but not for all season, only for a short period. Kovacevic signed earlier contract with Chinese club, and, because in China they played finish of last season some time ago without foreigners. Of course, there was information, that foreigners won't be able to play in China this season, but they changed their mind and foreign players can play in China in season 2020/21. I don't have information that Kovacevic broke contract in China or something.

@jais Yup no experience there, Linus Weber, huge talent played as second oppo behind nimir at Milan last year, unsurprisingly saw very limited court time tho. Second oppo is a young MB transitioning to OPP. Will still be interesting and should be enough for 2nd place, Weber is really good. However no chance in a best of 5 Series against Berlin though, you’re right. Didn’t follow Marechal the last 1-2 years, he was indeed talented some time ago

johannesleiDE 16 2

@jais worsley and vincic great setting duo tho, and Nemo can really standout at MB, dont know about van de veld, but if Weber comes out strong all they are missing is another strong OH

@johanneslei nice, so if Weber plays good, they can be dangerous, I guess.

There was also a roumor about Rok Možič, slovenian wonder boy (2002, really good) coming to Friedriechshafen. He said there were talks with club. He is really talented and could reach very high level abroad. Even though I guess club won't engage another young player, as far as I know, they already have two (3?) very young players. But I would say he could achieve playing level of a starting OH in friedrichshafen. Maybe you know anything else about the matter?
