On Wednesday night Italy’s champions Trentino Volley won without big problems against Arkas Spor Izmir for a second time in group D of the Champions League 2013/14. That was their fourth consecutive victory in the group. The opening set was played point for point (17:17); both teams delighted the fans at the PalaTrento with long rallies and spectacular defense actions. At the end the hosts, thanks to a couple of break points by middle-blocker Sebastian Solé, took a crucial lead and closed the first section of the game at 25:21. The same story unfolded in the second set, where Trentino alternated superb actions and silly mistakes, trying to hold back the attempts of a really motivated Turkish team. This set was finally closed by the home team with the score of 26-24. In the third and final set the Italians caught a good start (11:7), driven by their wing spiker Alexandre Ferreira and by middle-blocker Solé, one of the best players for Trentino. The guests of Izmir slowed their pace down and never fought back; Trento could easily claim the third set (25:15) and make a step forward on their way to the Play-offs 1/12.
