@raylight: You speak only the truth about Bratoev, yes. Zhekov does have more experience than him and really fast balls among the wing spikers. Noone can argue about that. His setting to zones 4, 2 and 1 is impressive nevertheless I can not change my opinion of his attitude towards middle blockers. For a fact you can almost never see him play a MB on a counter attack unless the ball is impossible to set forward or backwards. The same situation is when the score is really tight at the end of the set, everybody knows that he will not risk playing a MB. So the opposite MB have an easier choice to make, either zone number 4 or 2/1.

@raylight: Yes but we are talking about taking the place of Bratoev, not that he's the best setter in the world, but Zhekov has few good matches with MB's and that's not a game changer. And I beg to differ about our MB's attack, especially Nikolay Nikolov and partly Yosifov... True that Todorov isn't that good in attack but the very chemistry between Zhekov and MBs simply does not exist.

@raylight: Okay, so he has one tournament and a match of this year to support your stats... All of the other tournaments you can see that really well.

He plays middle blockers only when he has no other option... 90% of his balls to the middle blockers are set by one hand.

Let's not forget that he plays volleyball from 20 years old and now he is 23 so he lacks expirience. But yes his reach is incredibly high and he will continue to amaze me.

In this big level nobody expects a setter to repeat an attack. So I can say this was a very good tactical play!

For a size discriminating sport as volleyball I'm sorry for the boy, he looks real talented, but if he is only 190cm, he has a minimal chance of becoming a successful and well known opposite. Hard work and stubbornness will help him but he needs luck as well. Thumbs up for him :)
He deserved the MVP award... Classic moves, scoring difficult points and great defence!!

It's not only health problems. When he won the OG, and the World League the entire team got a large sum of money and a brand new car, and Alekno got nothing. The sponsors only gave him what was left of the budget for the team and his salary, no bonus. So probably this is some kind of reason too.
