As the top scorer in the tournament with 233 points, He was a key component of the Poland team which jumped the many hurdles on the way to winning the World Championship and defeating defending world champions Brazil in the competition's final. Former Polish player Pawel Papke’s saying that “Whoever has Wlazly – wins” rings even more true after Poland’s victorious campaign. Captain Tsvetan Sokolov said: "It was an emotionally positive game for us. We played against the Olympic and European champion. Despite the loss we played skillful volleyball and we gave everything from us on the playground. We gave Russia a hard time as much as possible. Russia and Serbia were the first teams which got the possibility to see how it feels to play in a soccer stadium transformed into a Volleyball arena.
