Iran - Serbia (World League 2013, 1st match)

After two away games, Iran finally returned home and at once they played better. In a packed "Azadi Hall" hall with 12000 fans in the stands, Iran played against Serbia. For the first time in history, Iran was as a World League host. This game abounded in long actions, powerful spikes and amazing digs. Five sets of emotions gave one point to Iran and another victory to Serbia. "We are glad for this win", said Serbia’s head coach Igor Kolaković. "The situation was not good for us. We played well in first and second set. Iran changed opposite player and they became good. They had good services they were very well in defense. I should congratulate to the spectators. They created good Atmosphere for home team", he said. Mahmoudi Shahram played nice game. He replaced Ghafour Amir. Mahmoudi Shahram scored 13 points in two sets! Serbia’s best player was Aleksander Atanasijević with 23 points from total of 74 attempts in attack. On the prees conference Julio Velasco said: "We were expecting to win but we lost. We did good play in two sets. Our service was not good in first set. We changed Mahmoudi and he did a good job".
