Ricardo is widely considered to be one of the best setters of all time, mainly for his ability to manipulate the opposing teams blockers and create easy hitting opportunities for his attackers. Along with Brazilian Head Coach Bernardo Rezende, Ricardo is credited with creating the fast paced offense including extremely quick back row attacks and fast paced sets to all positions on the court. This offense has been adopted by all major international teams and is consistently used at the highest levels today. Although Ricardo is widely considered one of the greatest setters, many experts have questioned his 'natural athleticism'. Ricardo was born in São Paulo. In 2004, he was part of the Brazilian team which won the gold medal in the Olympic tournament. He played all eight matches. In 2007 he was dismissed from the team, reportedly because of contention with other team members.

bitka, Ricardo is still playing very well, in a good level here in Brazil. Pretty much the same as he always played. The other day I was watching him playing in a match of the regional championship (here in Brazil we have regional championships before the main league and these tournaments didn't stop during the WC) and he was doing great. He's still one of the best in the world. Life should be simple, men complicate everything...

when he was playing in Brazilian NT he was the best in the world. but after that he was forgotten. he had not so great season in Sisley and went back to Brasil, am i right? how is he doing there? does anybody know? because as i said, after going back to Brasil he has been forgotten and nobody talked about him (at least in Europe)
