Thank you Giba !!!

Summary of Giba's play in Brazilian NT. Match against Russia in London was his last match in Brazilian NT. He said about his retiring for the first time in November 2011.
He suffered from leukemia as a child. He started playing volleyball when he was 12. His first official tournament on the national team was South American Championships 1995. In 2002, at the height of his fame, in his organism marijuana was detected. He was disqualified for a few months. The biggest punishment for him was sullying his spotless reputation. He wanted to explain it in several interviews.
Finally he decided to take part in the anti-drug campaign conducted by Brazilian federation of volleyball.
He decided also to admit to smoking. He declared that he won't do it anymore.
In 2003 he returned to the team with tarnished reputation and out of shape. He was just a reserve player. Breakthrough came in the final match of World League 2003 against Yugoslavia in Madrid. At the beggining Brazil was loosing so Rezende decided to put Giba into the court. Rezende hit the jackpot. Brazil started playing well and won in incredible tie-break 31:29. Giba seal the victory by his incredible last attack in that game.
He is the most recognized volleyball player in the world. He was MVP of The Olympics 2004, World Championships 2006 and World Cup 2007. After his last match he said: "I am leaving national team, but I'm so proud that I could be with this team for 20 years, with this boys, with this coach".
