USA - Bulgaria (SET5)

Bulgaria defeated USA in five sets in Week 5 of the World League 2014 in Hoffman Estates. Bulgaria started the game strongly and won the first two sets. USA made a strong comeback and won the next two sets. In an intense fifth set, the score was tied 9:9 when Nikolay Nikolov scored with an ace, followed by a passing error from USA and a kill through the block from Todor Skrimov to put Bulgaria up 12:9. Bulgaria finally secured the match 15:12 as USA could not recover in the final plays. American Taylor Sander was the top scorer with 18 points. Todor Skrimov scored17 points for the winning team. On the press conference coach of Bulgaria NT, Camillo Placi said: "I am happy with this first victory because we were coming from seven consecutive defeats and it was important for the morale of our team. This win will give us fuel and enthusiasm for the rest of World League".
