Hartjes Clinches NACC Men's Volleyball Defensive Accolade

MILWAUKEE – Owen Hartjes, a sophomore at Edgewood College, has been honored as the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Defensive Men's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning. This recognition marks a milestone for the Edgewood College men's volleyball program, securing its inaugural NACC weekly award.

Hartjes showcased exceptional performance at the IWU Invite, spearheading the Eagles with a remarkable display of defensive prowess. He amassed a total of 27 blocks across five matches last week, notably setting a program record with nine blocks in a decisive victory against Illinois Wesleyan. Against IWU, Hartjes also contributed 10 kills and achieved a .364 hitting percentage. Notably, he maintained a flawless attack record with eight kills against Wisconsin Lutheran and contributed four blocks to the team's efforts.

Looking ahead, Hartjes and the Eagles are geared up for further non-conference action as they prepare to face Judson University on Wednesday. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Elgin, Ill.
