Brazil ended the Japanese team’s undefeated run to earn their 10th title in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix - becoming the team with the most victories in the premier annual women’s competition. Brazil defeated Japan in straight sets at the last hurdle - a desired result to secure the title. The Japanese squad, who had an impressive run in the Finals, settled for silver - their first medal in the competition. Meanwhile, Russia ended their World Grand Prix medal drought as they took bronze after defeating last year’s silver medallists China in the first match. Then, Turkey closed this season’s campaign in fourth place by 3-1 victory over debutants Belgium. China and Belgium finished fifth and sixth place, respectively.0 4457 -

World Grand Champions Cup 2013 decoration
Decoration of the best teams in the World Grand Champions Cup 2013. Brazil celebrates their fourth title. The team was champion also in 1997, 2005 and 2009. They defeated Italy in a very tight match, an epic five-set battle (25:22, 25:22, 23:25, 20:25, 15:11) in 2 hours and 03 minutes. Brazil ends the competition with 12 points and 4 victories, losing just one match to the olympic champion, Russia. Brazil coach Bernardo Rezende said: "There was great volleyball played today. I'm very happy that we won the tournament. Wallace and Lucas played well for us. It was a roller coaster of emotions for us after the loss last night. We came back 15 hours after losing and won today which is amazing. We have some new players in the team, but had good focus in the tournament".1 3410 -

Brazil beating Japan in three straight sets clinched gold medal. Silver achieved USA, beating in American game Domninican Republic 3-1, bronze for "Nippon". Fabiana Claudino was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2013 FIVB Women’s Grand Champions Cup won by the South American monarchs on Sunday. The All-Star Team of the competition was announced at the start of the award ceremony presided over by Dr. Ary S. Graça, FIVB President and Dr. Yuichiro Hamu, President of Japan Volleyball Association. “I am very happy about winning the Most Valuable Player, an award granted by my teammates who helped me to do my job,” Fabiana said during the press conference held after the ceremony. "This is a great team and I’m really happy about what we achieved", the Brazilian captain added. “It wasn’t an easy tournament and I got the MVP award because of my team. All the players gave me this.” Japan sent three players to the All-Star Team of the competition based on the statistics while Thailand had two. The Japanese players were the first outside hitter Saori Sakoda, the setter Hitomi Nakachimi and the libero Arisa Sato. The two Thais in the ideal squad were Onuma Sittirak as second wing-spiker and Pleumjit Thinkaow as the second middle-blocker. kasatka39 ·Russian national team shows huge strength again! Team coached by Andrey Voronkov, after getting World League title, grabs title of European Champion. Not counting Soviet Union, it's first title for "Sborna" in the history. Nikolay Pavlov with Dimitriy Muserskiy and Alexey Verbov played great tournament. With this success, Russia also got the right to represent Europe at the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup scheduled for this coming November in Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan. Russia and Italy won also tickets for the next World Champs 2014. Russians showed that they are the best without their leader Maxim Mikhaylov (imagine how strong they will be when he will return the team after rehabilitation). Russian team wins almost every title on the international level in last few years.

In the last match Dmitriy Muserskiy and Nikolay Pavlov were unstoppable. The result was a repeat of the Olympic Games final when Russia beat Brazil, that time in five sets, and they have now beaten Brazil three times in a row. Italy earlier beat Bulgaria in the tie-break in the bronze medal match. Italy returns the World League podium after 9 years! Decoration of the best teams in the Italian Serie A 2012/13. Trentino Volley get Scudetto, winning in the 5th match against Copra Piacenza. In the last match Robertlandy Simon and Hristo Zlatanov were unstoppable. Cuban player scored 20 points! Especially his achievement in attack is impressive (he finished 11 of 15 spikes). On the other side Matey Kaziyski and Jan Stokr played nice game.
