Outside hitter William “Reid” Priddy was born in 1977 in Richmond, Virginia. He grew up in Florida and Arizona and now lives in Southern California. Priddy (196cm, 89kg) joined the US National Team for the 1999 Pan American Games. He was the starting outside hitter on the team that finished fourth at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He was also the starting outside hitter on the teams that won the 2008 Olympic Games and the 2008 FIVB World League. He was named the USA Volleyball Male Indoor Player of the Year in 2008. He served as the team’s captain in 2009.In 2014, Priddy was playing well when he tore his ACL during a World League match in June in Bulgaria, ending his season very early. After intense rehabilitation, he returned to the team in 2015, only to injure a pectoral muscle in a preseason exhibition match. He played libero for the 2015 FIVB World League team before returning to rehab for the rest of the season. In January 2016, he went to Italy to play for Civitanova and became a starter. He is looking to return to the U.S. team for the 2016 season.
