The victory gave Trentino Volley one of the semi-final tickets in group A leaving Zenit Kazan and Zamalek of Egypt to compete for the second ticket when they meet on Thursday. The Italian team, led by Brazilian star Leandro Vissotto and Bulgarian Matey Kaziyski, played a great match with both foreign stars top match scorers at 24 points each, while Alexey Cheremisin was the top scorer for the Russian side with 22 points. It was an exciting start as both teams were in form. The tie-break was a dramatic struggle with neither team managing to break away. However, the Italian team led the score most of the time.
