Italy - Russia (The Olympics 2008)

This was Russia's second consecutive Bronze Medal in the Olympic Games. In total, Russia have won four medals, including one Gold medal in London 2012, one Silver medal in Sydney 2000 and Bronze medals Athens 2004 Olympic Games and Beijing 2008. Italian team did not put up a big resistance in the bronze medal match and Russia won all sets without big problems. Maxim Mikhaylov scored 20 points in that match (47% in attack). Sergey Grankin played nice game. Alessandro Fei with 15 points was the best player of Italy national team. However, Russian team was quite disappointed that it was just bronze medal. On the prees conference Vadim Khamuttskikh (captain of Russia) said: "We can now say that it was not for nothing that we came here. Of course we had great plans, but we leave with the Bronze. We hope in the future our performance can further improve".
