The two co-hosts of the EuroVolley, Italy and Bulgaria, crossed their ways on the final day of the competition with the bronze medal being at stake in their match up. Italy eventually edged the Lions in four sets with a superb performance by their opposite Ivan Zaytsev and their rising star, 19-year old setter Simone Giannelli, who also showed full command of the operations for the Azzurri.
