The German team that played on Wednesday at Spodek Arena was the other side of the coin compared to the one subdued by France one night earlier as they corrected all their mistakes. They won in three sets against Iran (25:15, 25:21, 25:19). Germany relied on a masterful performance by Gyorgy Grozer who finished with 23 points, including four bombs from the service line and one block. En route to his splendid night, Grozer produced an efficiency of 62.96% with his killing attempts (18 of 27 spikes). Marcus Bohme and Dennis Kaliberda contributed 8 and 7 points in the victory. Amir Ghafour finished with 9 points for Iran while Farhad Ghaemi, Seyed Mousavi and Mojatba Mirzajanpour had seven points. In semi-final, Germany will play against Poland. Iran and Russia, who both played solid first and second rounds, will face each other for the first time in the World Championship. These two teams will complete their stints in fifth or sixth place in this edition of the World Championship.
