Who will be the next successor to the four pillar of Italian league after the turn of event happened to Trentino.

It's no secret that Trentino is in some sort of turmoil. Rumors of players fleeing away from the team, the first big transfer bomb came yesterday where Giannelli is transferred to Perugia, even though 2 years ago the setter reached an agreement with Trentino to extend their contract till 2023.

Regardless if Trentino continues to stay in the Italian series A league, which team will most likely to replace Trentino standing?

Here is my pick for the teams who are likely to play a bigger role in the league.

  • Piacenza

A new Piacenza volleyball team that is unrelated to the old team. They are capable of buying big players, such as, Grozer,  Russel, Clevenot, Antonov, etc. With their recent transfer with Adis Lagumdzija, Antonie Brizard, and Thibault Rossard, It wouldn't be a shocker to anyone that Piacenza can be elite teams in Italian series A.

  • Milano

Milano has become a mid tier team few years ago with players like Nimir Abdel- Aziz, Piano, Sbertoli, Marr, etc. Even though the team seems to be capable of making a bigger stride in the league, they have yet to break the ceiling in Italian series A, will the CEV challenge cup be their catalyst to squeeze into the Italian elite squad.

  • Monza

They had have their fair share of success and failure throughout the decades, peaked at 2nd in the 2000 in the Italian series A, drop back to Series A2 and return to A1. They have a roster filled with young and experienced players. With coach Soli and Orduna at the drivers seat, this might be the year for Monza to return to their old glorious year.

What are your thoughts? Can Trentino stay in the spotlight?

I'm rooting for Milano since they were very good this year and sign unique players. Standing 3rd for a period of time and beating Modena and other good teams. Really made a name for themselves also by winning the CEV cup.

But its unpredictable since teams in volleyball can change very quickley from season to season. Contracts are mostly one year and then boom, new team.

But on the other hand, Piacenza has that money and can buy big players, thus (like St. Petersburg) I think they will be the 4th pillar this season.

Brizzard and Rossard are nice adds for Piacenza, and they have money from what I’ve heard.

I’d love Milano to be that next team, but I don’t think they have the support to take that step. They may be close, but I think 5th is their limit.
