Italy remained hot on the heels of Poland and USA with a straight sets (25-18, 25-22, 25-16) win over Venezuela at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup Japan 2015. It was an error-strewn match, with Venezuela committing 29 to Italy’s 25. Filippo Lanza topped scored on 15 points with Kervin Pinerua picking up nine for the opponents. Italy coach Gian Lorenzo Blengini said: "I'm happy that we could win three straight games here. We had some difficult times but recovered. We have built a strategy to get us through difficult times and it worked today. Venezuela was excellent in both serve and attack. We hope to do well in the coming matches. We would like to play the next three games one at a time. We expect the next three teams to have a high level, so we will have to play accordingly."
