Italy - Iran (World League 2013, 2nd match)

Italy was deprived another point by Iran in Sassari on the Italian island of Sardinia in World League 2013. Italy’s Ivan Zaytsev scored 18 points. Team, coached by Mauro Berruto, coped well with the Iranian attack and won the first two sets without big problems (25:22) and (25:20). Italy fell behind in the third set, and Iran took control of the game to win the third set (25:20). In the fourth set, Iran managed to keep a good lead and won the set (25:18). Italy continued to play harder in the tie-break, with support of the home team fans and finished the match (15:13). "We did not play 100%, some of the players were not physically at their best, but thanks to the group and the support of the public, we were able to take the match and redeem ourselves", said Italy’s coach Mauro Berruto. "We will recover in these days before the trip to Serbia and meanwhile we will enjoy being in first place in the group".
