Iran achieved a speedy win in the first leg of their home against Russia. The fans on the stands of the Azadi Sports Complex in Tehran were ecstatic to see their favourites deal another defeat for the prominent opponent, by 3:0 (25:21, 25:21, 25:21), to stay within reach of a place in the Final Six before match Poland vs. USA. Shahram Mahmoudi was the best scorer of the game with 16 points for the winning side.
