I still can't understand why, in 2021, we can send Rovers to Mars, but we still consider “Ace/Set” and “Block/Set” as meaningful parameters.

If you start from the bench and get in as a specialist of serve, you serve just a few times per set and your rate will drop. Also if you play your first BP in the set in zone 6, 5 or 4… you will have around 1 chance less than your teammates starting in zone 3, 2 or 1 to serve.

At the same time, just because you are stepping in, even if there is no attack from the opponent, your performance in “Block/Set” will be affected. Why?

“Ace/Set” must be replaced by “Ace/Attempts”.
“Block/Set” must be replaced by “Block/Opponent attack (excluding error) when that player is frontrow”.

@FrancescoOleni You're right.

But I think the “ace/set” is not really useful for players who enter as serving specialists as you said. He's a substitute, his stats are really not useful and no one will have a look at it. So who cares if he's ratio drops ?

Those stats are however really useful for starting players. I look at it after every round in French championships and it's really fun and representative.

@PierreFoucault is like counting the rate of a football player at penalties or free kick, but instead of considering how many penalties or free kicks he shoots, you consider how many tgames he played.

I'm sooo impressed by the stats of Civitanova. 3 of their outside hittters in the top 5 for kills hitters and 1 in the top 5 in kills middles. That's real quality. Also Anzani's amasing blocking stat and Balaso's good reception stat. Makes you wonder how they are not winning everything.

@J.P. Amen to that! Exactly my thoughts.

We can clearly how superior is Lube in attack. I mean to have all three outside hitters averaging over 52% in attack, that's just crazy. They are so freaking good. It would be interesting to see their statistics in attack on perfect reception vs attack on the high ball. They must be like 70-80 % in perfect reception i think, if not even higher.

I love this type of content, thank you.
Thibault Rossard MVP for me (lack of objectivity ? yes probably, but no one expected him at this level)

@PierreFoucault you are a bit biased. Yet, Rossard did bring Vibo to the top 5 which no one expected, so he should be included in the MVP conversation. I would say really wide look on the mvp debate we've got Leon, Nimir, Osmany & Leal, Rossard and Lagumdžija. But if we narrow it down I think we really have just the fight between Nimir and Leon. In which case I would take Leon.

Because Nimir has strong help in attack in Lucarelli, while Leon is really carrying Perugia's attack by himself. He is that super addition to the team of Perugia that can lead them to wins against the best.

Not a bold statement, something a lot of people would say, but in attack Leon really is the best in the world, guys. :)

@jais Yes this title will obviously be between Nimir and Leon so far..

Outside hitters : Leon and Rossard

Middle blockers : Simon and Lisinac

Setter : De Cecco

Opposite : Niir

Libero : Grebennikov

@PierreFoucault Take Rossard off Vibo and they are in the bottom 3. Take Nimir or Leon off their teams, and they are still top 4-5 teams. Rossard is my MVP as well.

@PanicVB That's not false. Rossard of not, I was not expecting them to finish in the top 8 and the beginning of the season. And they finished fifth.

@PierreFoucault Great minds think alike ?

I wonder if Vibo can keep Rossard and DeFalco next season.
