anyway I like the play very much. It was a nice dig, maybe a little lucky, and they used it properly. Just the actual hit itself is far from impressive, and has nothing to do with why I like this play.

I mean... it's impossible to jump as high as you can do with the proper approach. And to hit the ball there, you have to jump enough=)
And yes, you're right, both the setter and the mb did a right choise.. that's not so obvious, I suppose...

This is probably one of the easiest things ive ever seen a volleyball player do in my life. Its good that he was there for his setter though, and the setter made a good choice to set him. See an inexperienced player would probably just get out of the way of the setter, but he saw he could still be there for to help in the offense. But otherwise, I don't see how this is an impressive 3rd meter spike.
