CEV World Championships Qualification 2018

World Championship Qualifiers Belize 2016. This was a tournament that was between Belize, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, Honduras, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. Belize placed 3rd and took the Bronze for this tournament. I am just a young athlete with so much more to learn and looking for my next break in the amazing sport! I was the Second Best Scorer, 4th Best Server, and 5th Best Receiver in the tournament.

Toniutti with a killing block vs. Denis Kaliberda. 1,83m were enough to single-block ;-) With 4300 fans in attendance at the Palais des Sports in Lyon, France rallied to a 3:0 (25:22, 25:20, 25:20) victory over Germany in the ‘grand finale’ of the tournament to secure their ticket to next year’s World Championship.

Grozer with a spectacular point in match against Turkey. He was top scorer of the match with 17 points including two aces. After failing to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio, Georg Grozer put his national team career on hold. Germany’s main opposite talked about a two-year absence and unsure future. The new coach of Germany, Andrea Giani aka former head coach of Slovenia, was able to convince Germany’s scoring machine Grozer to return to the National Team.

A well deserved point for Finland! The battle of the two unbeaten teams in Group F. The Spanish team had the chance of taking over the leadership of the pool if they were to win. It was an impressive game with both sides fighting for each point. At the end, it was the Finnish team who took the victory 3:1 (25:19, 21:25, 25:19, 25:22).

In the fully packed Topsportcentrum in Koog aan de Zaan the home team of The Netherlands came out with all guns blazing against Greece, winning the first set at a canter (25:13). The second set was the decisive one in this match. Greece missed as many as eight set points in a row, and after that the Dutch took the lead for the first time in the set: 31:30. Right after this, the great substitute Robin Overbeeke finished it all off (32:30) before the ‘Lange Mannen’ stormed to a compelling 25-16 win in the third set.
